Project Details
IGES is carrying out a research project for promoting regional collaboration in EIA in Asia, commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ). The project primarily aims to contribute to enhancing EIA policies and their implementation in Asian countries through promoting regional collaboration. It also tries to help Japanese private sector mitigate environmental and social risks in investing in these countries through providing a precise and informative EIA guidebook for respective countries.
IGES had conducted an in-depth study in nine Asian countries, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Korea, LaoPDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in previous years. In this year, the project is carried out an in-depth survey on EIA policy and its implementation in India and Bangladesh.
