Project-related land acquisition and restrictions on land use can have adverse impacts on communities and persons and it may cause physical displacement (relocation, loss of residential land or loss of shelter), economic displacement (loss of land, assets, or access to assets, leading to loss of income sources or other means of livelihood), or both. Experience and research indicate that physical and economic displacement, if unmitigated, may give rise to severe economic, social, and environmental risks (ESF, 2018). EQMS has vast experiences to address these issues in line with national (GOB’ ARIPA 2017) and international standards (WB ESF 2018, ADB SPS 2009, IFC PS 2012, JICA ESC 2022, EP 2020, IDB, etc.).
