Project Details
Agriculture plays a key role in Bangladesh’s economic growth. Extensive irrigation, high-yielding crop varieties, more efficient markets, and mechanization, enabled by policy reforms and investments in agriculture research, human capital, and roads have driven agriculture sector’s growth. Agriculture has played a key role in reducing Bangladesh’s poverty from 48.9% in 2000 to 31.5% by 2010 with over 87% of rural people part of their some income from agricultural activities. Bangladesh now needs to shift toward high-value agriculture, including horticulture, livestock, poultry and fisheries to foster future growth and further reduce poverty.
In order to contribute toward meeting the growing agricultural demand in Bangladesh, Growtech Agro proposes to set up a fertilizer and pesticide re-packaging industry at (Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation) BSCIC in Dhamrai Upazila, Dhaka District of Bangladesh. The proposed project is located beside the national highway (N5) of Dhaka-Aricha road. Administratively the proposed project area falls in Dautia Mouza under Shomvag Union in Dhamrai Upazila, Dhaka District. The proposed project is a private owned agricultural (fertilizer and pesticide) re-packaging industry.
