Sirajganj 225 MW CCPP (2nd Unit-Dual Fuel) Project

Project Details

NWPGCL has planned to construct another 225MW Combined Cycle Power Plant at Saydabad under Sirajganj district beside the ( sirajganj unit-1)150MW Peaking Power Plant with the bidder’s finance. There are also plan to establish another 2 power plant in the Sirajganj Power hub, called Sirajganj ( unit-3), 225 MW and Sirajganj ( unit -4), ±410 MW Power plant, both are duel fuel. The configuration of the proposed Sirajganj 225 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (2nd Unit-Dual Fuel) is multi shaft 1:1:1 consisting of one gas turbine, one HRSG and one steam turbine with by-pass stack for GT single operation. Natural Gas is the main fuel and HSD oil as alternative fuel. The net output of the power plant will be from 200 MW to 250 MW.

The following equipment will be required for 225 MW CCPP project (2nd Unit-Dual Fuel):

  • Gas Turbine
  • Steam Turbine
  • Generators
  • Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)
  • Gas Booster Compressor
  • 230 kV Switchyard in Power Plant area
  • Extension of 230 kV bay at the existing Sirajganj 230kV Switching station
  • Underground 230 kV transmission line for power evacuation
  • Water treatment system
  • Cooling Water System
  • Stacks (main and bypass)

Natural gas or High Speed Diesel will be used as fuel for Gas turbine which will be coupled with Generator to produce 150 MW at 11 kV voltage level. The requirement of Natural Gas for this proposed Power Plant is about 35 mmcfd. Natural Gas will be supplied to the proposed power plant by Paschimanchal Gas Distribution Co. Ltd. of Petrobangla. The exhaust temperature of gas turbine will be about 500-600 degree Celsius. The exhaust gas with high temperature will be passed through Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) in which groundwater will be fed after treatment (demineralization & desalination) to produce the steam and then the steam will be passed through steam turbine coupled with generator to produce electricity of about 75 MW at 11 kV voltage level. The temperature of the flue gas will be about 90 degree Celsius. The flue gas will be discharged to the atmosphere through a main stack of adequate height.

The output voltage of the generators will be stepped up to 230 KV through a step-up Transformer, to be installed close to generator outlets. This high voltage (230 KV) supply will be connected to the existing 230 KV Switching Station of PGCB through 230 KV cables of required specifications
