8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge

Project Details

Proper and fast communication among the rural areas and urban areas are one of the most concern areas of Government of Bangladesh (GOB). Still there are many farriers functional as the means of crossing the rivers. Severely affecting the exertion of quick and convenient road transport, therefore, Bangladesh government has an urgent sustainable demand of construction of bridge to replace the crossing ferries.
Gradual replacement of all ferries by new bridges on RHD network is one of the top-ranked priority of the Government of Bangladesh. 
The 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship bridge at Bekutia is an important infrastructure project in the communication sector. Implementation of the project will significantly benefit various sectors of the economy of south-west region of Bangladesh. The project is located in the only highway between the two big city Barisal and Khulna in southern Bangladesh. The Bekutia ferry, where the project is located, is also the only ferry in the highway and the last "bottleneck" from Barisal to Khulna at present. EQMS Consulting limited is assigned to assess the environmental and traffic impact of the project.
