Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (DMRTDP) (MRT Line 1)

Project Details

MRT line I has a length of 28.2 km with 19 stations and one depot in purbachal area. The alignment of MRT Line 1 consists of two lines, one being the route that connects Kamalapur with the Hazrat Shahajalal lnternational Airport (hereafter the ,,Airport Line,,). This line runs through an underground tunnel that starts at the Kamalapur Station of Bangladesh Railway (BR), travels westward under the Outer Circular Road, northward under the Rampura DIT Road and Pragati Sharani Road, crosses the Kurjl flyover, and proceeds under the New Airport Road to its destination at.Dhaka lnternational Airport. The airport line is 14.g km underground section comprising 12 underground stations. The other route branches off from the Airport Line at Notun Bazar station and runs to the Purbachal area (hereafter the "Purbachal Line"). The line runs underground under pragati Sharani Road till Kuril. The elevated section of the Purbachal line begins through a transition section on the east side of the Kuril fly-over, and will proceed eastward directly above the median strip of the Purbachal Highway to the purbachal Terminal Station. The highway crosses six river bridges, and the line will run direcily over these bridges. The Purbachal line is 134 km section comprising 7 elevated stations.
