In line with the GOB strategy, BEZA has identified the land and requested for acquisition 21-03-2016. Prime Minister office had been approved the acquisition dated 24-03-2016. Furthermore, district land allocation committee approved the land requirement proposal of SEZL dated 13-04-2016. After completing all internal procedures, the Deputy Commissioner declared acquisition notice U/s : 3 on 21- 08-2016.  The land selected for the project categorized as public land. The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has awarded the final license for setting up the Sirajganj Economic Zone to a consortium of 11 companies on 3 October 2018. The Sirajganj Economic Zone has received final approval as the first private economic zone in the northern region of Bangladesh. With 1041.43 acres of land, it will also be the country’s largest private economic zone. The EZ will be established on the banks of the Jamuna River. It is expected to host textile and knitwear, food processing, pharmaceuticals, leather, automobile engineering, LPG manufacturing, steel manufacturing, and fisheries and ship building industries. The aim of building this EZ was to operate the most lucrative green economic zone in the country

The proposed economic zone is envisaged a total land area of appx 1041.43 acres. The whole project has been segregated into two parts – first phase and second phases.   The land parcel comprising of ~ 415 acres is selected as the first phase of the entire development and being referred to as the “Proposed Economic Zone” across the report. The zone is well connected with Dhaka and other parts of the country through the Elenga-Nalka-Hatikamrul Road (N405) which would serve as the primary trunk connectivity for accessing the project site. Jamuna River is in east direction which can serve as a waterway connectivity to the other area of Bangladesh. Resettlement and agricultural land are situated in the south and west side of the project area. A branch of Jamuna River pass through the proposed project boundary. The project area is mainly covering agricultural low land. The area formed by the siltation of sand (locally known as charland) by the mighty Jamuna River.
